49,968 fans watched an exciting game at the ballpark.  The red-hot Columbus
Crowd topped the SSB SSB Tar Heels by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings.  Columbus won the
hard fought contest in the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Lyle
Overbay delivered a one-base hit.  One out later, Hank Blalock came to the
plate and drew a walk.  J.D. Drew then drew a walk to load the bases.
Mariano Rivera then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed making Columbus
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.  Columbus ended up with
9 hits for the game while SSB had 6.  

The win was credited to B.J. Ryan(5-3) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Luis Ayala(6-4) suffered the loss in relief.  It was a tough loss for him as
he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work.  

For Columbus, it was just another victory in their mounting winning streak.
